FAIRY AND HOBBIT HOUSE FESTIVAL |
The Bedrock Gardens Fairy & Hobbit House Festival will be held October 10, 11, 12, 2020

~A Note from Fairy & Hobbit House Festival 2020 Chair, Nanci Helton:
Greetings All Fairy & Hobbit House Enthusiasts!
Bedrock Gardens is open! I hope you have been able to visit this summer and see the new parking lot and point of entry into the gardens.
In these days of COVID 19, Bedrock Gardens is the perfect place to get out into nature and have some socially distanced fun with family & friends.
In compliance with the Governor's Guidelines we are encouraging all visitors to wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the gardens.
The Fairy House & Hobbit Festival will be held on Saturday October 10, Sunday October 11 & Monday October 12th from 10-4.
We will have Mother Nature and other Fairy Godmothers in the garden, reading fairy & hobbit stories to the children.
There will be two Gnome Depots, where children can pick out natural building supplies to build their very own fairy house along our trail.
We are having a COVID-type fairy face mask contest. Please design and wear your fairy mask and you can be entered in the contest. We will have prizes for the most original designs.
Our Queen Beekeeper, Mary Ellen McKeen will share bee related show and tell, so bring your curiosity about their hive building and honey making. Bedrock Garden bees have produced 50 pounds of honey. Is that the weight of you or a friend? Maybe you’d like to take some honey home with you.
Betsy Williams, author of “Are there Fairies at the Bottom of Your Garden?” and “Planning your Herbal Wedding" will be here also.
The Fairy Cafe will be open with another special fairy food menu created by our magical caterer Mary V..
Plan to spend some quality time with Mother Nature and the Bedrock Gardens Fairy Godmothers, eating some fairy food, listening to fairy stories and building a fairy house for the garden fairies to live in this winter.
We hope you will join us for this magical weekend!
Nancy
Cost: $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 4-12, children under 3 are free

~A Note from Bedrock Gardens Executive Director, John Forti
Greetings Families and Friends!
Each year Bedrock Gardens hosts its annual Fairy & Hobbit House Festival not only as safe outdoor entertainment, but as a fun way to remind families how to rediscover green fields and woodlands beyond the blue screens.
Studies show that on average children know fewer than 10 animals and plants in their own yard, but that they can identify hundreds of corporate logos.
Making fairy houses helps children to discover the magic and science of the natural world as they learn to identify and respect the landscapes around them.
The fairy house movement has roots in our region that go back over 100 years! They evoke much older folklore that helps spark imaginations with woodland sprites, chipmunks and hollyhock fairies instead of advertisements and sad news of the day.
Bedrock Gardens is pleased to help keep these traditions alive with you and your family . We look forward to spending time together in the gardens!
John

Betsy Williams, Author of Are There Faeries at the Bottom of Your Garden" says:
"I will share with you some of the fascinating bits of information about fairies and their ways that lay embedded like tiny, sparkling gems in the fabric of our ancient folk tales and legends. Finally, should you choose to take the mythical path that could lead to Fairyland, I leave you with the traditional warning: The inhabitants of Faerie do not always trust mortals, so you must remember to tread softly, mind your manners, be unwaveringly honest and trustworthy, and, above all, keep your wits about you for you never know what's going to happen next in the wonderful land of "Once-upon-a-time."
